The failed Inter Milan transfer which could be bad news for Chelsea and Frank Lampard
Chelsea star Olivier Giroud is still far from joining Inter Milan.
The France international's deal with the Blues expires at the end of the season and he is free to have discussions with foreign clubs during January.
The Standard reported the striker was to undergo his medical with Inter as early as this weekend. Whilst the Frenchman was left out of the squad which made the trip to St James' Park on Saturday.
However, his move to Inter could fall through.
One reason for a delay has been down to Inter's need to offload a player as La Gazzetta dello Sport reported that the Frenchman was not able to join Inter until Matteo Politano was off the books.
The Italian was on the verge of the move to AS Roma in swap deal involving Leonardo Spinazzola, but it's now been reported that the deal has broken down.
So unless Inter can reach an agreement for Politano's exit before deadline day, Giroud could very well be staying at Chelsea and Frank Lampard won't get a blessing to boost his transfer budget.
