Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the future of Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez after his impressive performances for the Premier League side in recent months.

Mahrez has been with City since 2018 and his contract with the club expires in the summer of 2023. During this season, Mahrez has made overall 45 appearances in which he has scored 14 goals and provided 7 assists.

Manchester City reached the Champions League final for the first time in the club’s history after beating PSG with a 4-1 aggregate score and Mahrez played a key part in the victory as he scored a double in the second leg’s 2-0 victory on Tuesday night.

According to Romano via Here We Go Podcast, Mahrez is one of the players that City have ‘an intention’ to open talks with regarding a contract extension. They will talk about it with the player and with his agent in the coming months.
