Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Georginio Wijnaldum as his future remains uncertain with Liverpool. Wijnaldum's current contract with the Reds expires at the end of this season and the midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona.
“[The] last proposal from Liverpool some months ago was the same contract with the same salary he has right now for three years so Wijnaldum was not so happy with this proposal. So at the moment there is no agreement between Wijnaldum and Liverpool. His agents are talking with Barcelona people but there is nothing signed because it depends on [Ronald] Koeman," said Romano in a video chat with
YouTube channel SFeatleyTV.
“Koeman wants Wijnaldum but there is still nothing decided also on Barcelona’s side so it’s a moment of talks but [it’s a] complicated situation with Liverpool and Barcelona leading the race but there is nothing signed yet with Wijnaldum and when you have free agents, you have to be careful until they sign the contract because they can change their mind in five minutes, so everything is open, but at the moment, no agreement with him.”
During this season, the 30-year-old has made overall 43 appearances in which he has scored 3 goals.
