Newcastle United are on the verge of securing the signing of Bournemouth center-back Lloyd Kelly on a free transfer, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Despite missing out on Tosin Adarabioyo, the Magpies were eager to strengthen their defense for the upcoming season. Following the expiration of his contract with the Cherries, Kelly's availability as a free agent made him an attractive option for the Tyneside club.
Capable of playing in various defensive roles, the 25-year-old's arrival will add depth to Eddie Howe's side squad and present competition for players like Sven Botman, Fabian Schar, and Jamaal Lascelles.
Writing in his X account, Romano reported that the deal is in the final stages, with formalities being sorted out. The Englishman's potential move to St James' Park would see him reunited with former manager Howe, under whom he played four years ago.
