Tottenham had actually inquired about the possibility of signing Rasmus Hojlund back in July, prior to the player's eventual move to Manchester United, according to the sports journalist Fabrizio Romano.
During the summer, Spurs were actively seeking a new striker, particularly after losing their star player Harry Kane.
Despite being linked with potential signings like Gift Orban and Jonathan David following Kane's departure, Romano claims that Tottenham had explored the option of a deal with Atalanta for Hojlund as early as July. However, in the end, they opted for a different style of forward and Hojlund himself was set on joining United.
In his recent YouTube video, Romano shared some insights regarding Hojlund's transfer to Old Trafford, saying:
“Tottenham, in July, asked for information on Rasmus Hojlund, they wanted to be informed on the conditions of the deal, also conditions of the deal player side. But it was not possible to proceed."
“First of all because Kane was not sold to Bayern and so Hojlund to Tottenham was only possible if they sold Kane to Bayern, something that happened later in the window in August, not in July."
He added: “It’s also important to mention that for the player, in that moment it was something like let me focus on United because my dream move is to Manchester United."
