Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Arsenal’s pursuit of Arthur Melo.

Juventus midfielder has been linked with the move to the Emirates Stadium, with Mikel Arteta’s side looking to improve the squad for the next season.

Now Romano claims that Gunners have cooled down their interest in the 25-year-old. He is no longer in the Premier League club’s priority.

“The Gunners are considering several candidates because a new midfielder will arrive in the summer, there is no doubt, but who it will be will hinge on whether or not the club can qualify for the Champions League,” the sports journalist wrote, via HITC.

“Arthur Melo has been an option for months but is no longer the priority, unlike in January; Douglas Luiz can leave Aston Villa and there has been talk of interest from Arsenal, but there is no negotiation in progress yet.”
