EXCLUSIVE: Ray Parlour believes Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang can take inspiration from former Arsenal star

VBET ambassador and former Arsenal player Ray Parlour believes Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang can take inspiration from Thierry Henry and lead Gunners from the front. Manager Unai Emery this week replaced Granit Xhaka with Aubameyang as the Gunners’ new captain. Arsenal legend Parlour welcomed the 30-year-old striker’s appointment and does not feel playing in a forward role will affect his leadership qualities on the pitch. Parlour now challenged Aubameyang to follow in the footsteps of Henry, who was named captain in his last two seasons and guided Arsenal to the Champions League final in 2006. Parlour told VBET News: “There was always going to be a question mark over Xhaka’s future and his captaincy. “Now Emery’s made the big decision to name Aubameyang (as captain). “I think it’s a very good decision, I really do. He’s got a big influence on that dressing room. “In an ideal world, you’d love a centre-half (as captain) who could see the whole pitch – and the whole picture in front of him. “But, we’ve seen some great strikers as captains. “Harry Kane, Alan Shearer back in the day, and our very own Thierry Henry, who got us to the Champions League final in 2006. “So, I think it’s a really good appointment and I really hope that the players look up to him and respect him as captain.”
