EXCLUSIVE: Brendan Rodgers talks about his future opponent Steven Gerrard

Brendan Rodgers and his Celtic are now in Armenia to face Alashkert FC during their Champions League qualifier. Mikael Lustig, Tom Rogic, and Cristian Gamboa will not help the team in their first game, as they have played in World Cup and are now having rest. Dedryck Boyata is preparing for the semi-final game with his Belgium national team against France. But their absence is not the thing to worry about before the game. “We’re all about team. All the players played in World Cup are fantastic, but they can’t help us now. So we have to go with players who are here and they’re very good,” Celtic FC manager Brendan Rodgers told VivaroNews. “Boyata has done fantastic. He played 90 minutes in first three games and they won. I think he’s very important player for Belgium national team. “Lustig also did really well getting to the quarter-finals. Tom Rogic (Australia) and Christian Gamboa (Costa Rica) played very well, but unfortunately they didn’t qualify.” Liverpool have reportedly rejected Harry Wilson bid from Celtic, but Rodgers is not very much worried about it. “When you’re manager you get linked with lots of players. I know Harry from my time in Liverpool. He’s very talented player. Celtic are linked with many players, but I only concentrate on the players we have now.” Former Liverpool star Steven Gerrard has took his first job with Celtic’s main rival Rangers, but Brendan Rodgers doesn’t worry about it. Speaking on potential rivalry with his ex-player in Liverpool he said: “It’s great that he takes his first job as a manager in Rangers and he can give strength to them. But I always concentrate my own players. Celtic are the best and whatever team we play, no matter who is the opponent we always try to win." “I always respect every opponent, I always respect every manager whether I know them or don’t. I hope we’ll see good games and good football,” he added.
