Ex-Manchester United star thinks one club player deserves Bruno Fernandes role at Old Trafford

Clayton Blackmore has shared his praise for the club youngster Mason Greenwood, claiming that he should take United's free-kicks during the upcoming season. Former Manchester United star thinks Greenwood's future lies at centre-forward, while he also suggested that the 19-year-old should take free-kicks, instead of Bruno Fernandes. "He needs to make the transition into a centre-forward because he's done that all his life, at the moment he's a centre-forward playing off the front He's a typical number 9 who can drop off and get on the ball when he wants to," Blackmore said. "A bit like how Mark Hughes and Eric Cantona used to work together. Mason as a kid growing up played there on his own in a front three and he could drop into midfield, take the ball and run at the defence. "He's a player who likes to carry the ball, he's not a target man which some people believe centre-forwards have to be. His talent is scary, I watched him growing up and I'm shaking my head in disbelief watching him taking freekicks and penalties with both feet. "Penalties I can see it, but freekicks are over 20 yards out most of the time and he's hitting the target constantly with either foot. I'm surprised he's not on them now, obviously Bruno is a decent set piece taker, but Mason is very good at them."
