Ex-Liverpool man reacts as Jordan Pickford escapes punishment for his tackle on Virgil van Dijk

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has reacted to the news that Jordan Pickford has escaped punishment for his tackle on Virgil van Dijk. Reds defender could miss the entire season with an ACL injury he picked up after Pickford's challenge during Saturday's Merseyside derby. It was confirmed on Monday that Everton goalkeeper will not be punished for his tackle, while Murphy was shocked by the FA decision news. “I’m absolutely gobsmacked, perplexed, bemused,” pundit said on White and Jordan. “The FA aren’t going to punish Pickford because VAR concluded that it was not worthy of a red card? “Please, whoever made that decision, get on the phone, because they have to explain themselves how that cannot be deemed a red card in football. “Anywhere else on the pitch by any other player, it’s a straight red, instantaneously. “I know it’s not going to change Van Dijk’s injury, but it’s an absolutely ludicrous decision!”
