Ex-Celtic player admits taking cocaine on night out

Daryl Murphy has admitted testing positive for using cocaine on a night out last season. The ex-Celtic striker served a six-week ban while playing for Nottingham Forest; however, the ban was secret. Murphy played for Celtic from 2010 and moved away from the club in 2013 and scored three goals in 21 appearances. He served his ban between October 6 and December 8 last year. He said in a statement: “Firstly, I would like to stress that the taking of recreational drugs is something that I don’t condone whatsoever. I served a suspension at the beginning of last season for making a bad decision while on a night out. “This was an isolated incident which happened out of the competition when we had no game. I immediately regretted it. I am not proud of what I did but it’s something I have put behind me as I want to concentrate on my football career.” Source- Daily Record
