Ex-Arsenal defender lays out the Unai Emery tactical masterstroke that beat Bournemouth

Arsenal will head into next weekend's north London derby on the back of a 17-game unbeaten run after Sunday's win at Bournemouth. The Gunners return to winning ways in the Premier League with a 2-1 win over Bournemouth and former Arsenal centre-back Matthew Upson went into detail over how his former club wrong-footed their opponents. "It was interesting how well it did for Arsenal high up the pitch," said Upson on BBC Sport's Match of the Day 2. "Defensively it can make them more sound but Unai Emery is looking to control matches more and it certainly worked today away from home against a very good Bournemouth team who have had some great results of late. "You could see very early on the shape. The three centre-backs sitting there nicely, it allows Kolasinc and Bellerin to get a little bit higher up the pitch. The other factor is Iwobi and Mkhitaryan. "They are able to come inside and that asks a different question of Bournemouth. It asks a different question of Simon Francis and David Brooks and especially Charlie Daniels and Ryan Fraser who are used to having it all their own way, a bit. "Fraser and Brooks have been excellent for Bournemouth going forward this season but Daniels had to come inside, Fraser doesn't want to be playing at almost the left-back position, and with the pace that Arsenal have through Bellerin, it proved too difficult for them. "Bellerin and Kolasinac could also be higher up the pitch to regain the ball. That leads to the own goal by Lerma. Another way that they're getting down the sides and hurting them. "For the second Arsenal goal, Fraser was caught in that position. His body shape was too square. He wasn't ready to run back behind. Lovely cutting, clinical play from Arsenal but it was an area they exploited. The three at the back formation helped them to exploit it. "It really allows them to go in the spaces in between positions, between the lines, and not just up and down the pitch but in and out - in between in every aspect. The wing-backs allowed that to happen."
