Manchester United are set to sign youngster Charlie McNeil from Premier League rivals Manchester City, according to ESPN.

The 17-year-old has attracted the Red Devils, representing England at youth level and making a number of first-team appearances for his side.

The report claims that the deal could cost close £1.5 million. United are ready to pay around £750,000 for the highly-rated youngster with the rest of the fee made up of bonuses triggered by McNeil.

The academy investigation process will take up three weeks, while the teenager will join Neil Ryan's Under-18s once the deal is complete.
