Erling Haaland's past comments give Manchester United ongoing transfer hope

Manchester United have failed the chance to sign Erling Haaland last January when the Norwegian striker decided to join Borussia Dortmund. Since then he has enjoyed his playing time with the German side, continuing his impressive improvement at the club. But, according to The Athletic, the 20-year-old remains a top target in the Red Devils' wish-list for the near future. It is claimed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has previously worked with Haaland, still wants to land him at Old Trafford. The forward has a €75 million (about £68 million) release clause that will become active in the summer of 2022. However, United could get their man earlier should the Norwegian decide to leave the German club. Solskjaer's and Haaland's relationship at former club Molde could impact the player's decisions, while the striker himself has spoken on a possible move to the Premier League last year. “He (Solskjaer) has had a huge impact on my life, both as a person and as a trainer," he said. "He won the Champions League and was an incredibly good player. He has taught me a lot." "I have dreamed of playing for the best clubs in the world my whole life, and I especially like English football." Haaland's father, Alfe-Inge, has also opened up on forward's future, saying: “At one stage he would like to play in the Premier League, but when that will happen, I don’t know. It is a very tough league. “Up to now he is ahead of the stage we thought he would be at. He is built for the Premier League, but whether that will happen now or at a later stage, we don’t know."
