Young Chelsea star Levi Colwill has received his first official call-up to the England squad for Euro 2024 qualifiers.
England national head coach Gareth Southgate has revealed his squad to take on Ukraine and Scotland in September. The Blues' defender participated in training sessions with the English senior team earlier this summer, subsequently delivering an impressive performance in England's triumph at the Under-21s European Championship.
After a highly successful loan spell at Brighton during the 2023/24 Premier League season, Colwill has extended his contract with Chelsea, a decision influenced by Brighton's interest. This choice was reached after discussions with Mauricio Pochettino. The 20-year-old has openly expressed his aspirations to secure a spot in the squad for the 2024 European Championships.
In a previous statement this summer, he remarked, "The opportunity to join the England training was significant for me. It highlighted that every effort I put in is noticed. Interacting with some of the finest players globally was invaluable. I must maintain my momentum because circumstances can change rapidly. That's the nature of the situation. I'm hopeful about being part of it."
In contrast to Colwill's success, another Chelsea man Raheem Sterling has been left out from Southgate's squad, despite being in a good form at Stamford Bridge.
