Aston Villa have confirmed the appointment of new head coach Unai Emery on October 24.
As soon as Steven Gerrard's sacking announcement has been dropped the Premier League side approached Villareal's coach for a quick appointment.
The Spaniard, meanwhile, has been under contract with the La Liga side until the end of this season, which means Villa will pay the manager's €6m (£5.25m) release clause.
Therefore, Aaron Danks will remain in charge as long as Emery joins the club next week after a work permit.
Danks led the Villains to beat Brentford 4-0 on Sunday, October 23 to move three points above the relegation zone.
“For me, I’ve been asked to step forward and lead the team,” claimed the 37-year-old caretaker after the game.
“We’re in tomorrow morning. We’ll recover well and we’ll review today’s game and get ready for Newcastle. Whenever anything changes, it changes but, until we get to that point, we’ll continue to think forwards and move forwards.
