Which summer signing did Man United pay "significantly" more than intended

Manchester United have paid significantly more than they intended to, for Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund, as per transfer expert Ben Jacobs.

As the journalist informs, the Red Devils are set to pay around €85million for the Denmark international, despite having intended to pay a fee of around €65m initially. The 20-year-old is undoubtedly an exciting addition to the Manchester side, yet, his asking price came us unplanned spending for the club.

Despite the costly purchase, "the club view that transfer fee as an investment, not an expense" according to Jacobs. Once the deal is done, Hojlund will have big expectations cast upon him to live up to the costly transfer fee.

Ligue 1 giants PSG had an interest in signing Hojlund, and they have also considered Dusan Vlahovic and Harry Kane. However, at the moment, it seems unlikely that PSG will secure deals for either Vlahovic or Kane, as well as Hojlund.
