John Wenham doesn't understand the lack of transfer activity at Tottenham after their interest in Lautaro Martinez in the summer of 2021.
Previously on 9 August,
Sky in Italy reported that Spurs were willing to pay £60million for Martinez.
And now, the insider is 'confused' whether the club have “lost” the £60million reportedly set aside for the striker.
Speaking on Football Insider, Wenham claimed.
“I wonder what’s going on at Tottenham,” he said.
“It was only last summer we were heavily linked with a £60million bid for Martinez at Inter Milan.
“That was after all of our business was done. Was that the club just leaking stuff to push season ticket sales through, or was that money set aside?
“Because if the £60million offer was made, where is the money now? Why was someone not signed for 1 January?
“Have they lost £60million? I can’t believe that. Are we no longer interested in a striker? Multiple reports say we still want one.
“So what have they done with the money. We’re in a decent position in the table and could overtake Chelsea if we win our games in hand.
“I find it slightly confusing that we are in this phenomenal position and we aren’t spending this money that we seemingly had in the summer.”
