Liverpool are anxiously awaiting an update on the condition of their key player, Mohamed Salah, following his early departure due to a suspected hamstring injury in Egypt's 2-2 draw against Ghana at the AFCON in Ivory Coast.
Despite the match ending in a draw, Salah had to be substituted before halftime. The Liverpool forward suffered a hamstring issue that prevented him from continuing in the game, but he observed the second half from the sidelines.
Although Salah appeared upset as he left the field, he was later seen smiling in the mixed zone after the match.
While Salah didn't provide reporters with an update, he walked through the stadium with a smile, showing no signs of discomfort. However, with Egypt's next match scheduled for Monday, the attacker faces a tight race against time to be available for that game.
"We don’t know yet what the problem is. I hope it’s not a big problem. It was difficult timing for us because in the second half, we could only make two substitutions. I think it’s not dangerous but let’s see." Egypt boss Rui Vitória said after the game, via The Athletic's Simon Hughes on X/Twitter.
Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp is expected to address Salah's injury during his press conference. Nevertheless, it was anticipated that the Reds' number 11 would likely be sidelined until the end of the month. Liverpool has upcoming fixtures against Bournemouth, Fulham in the Carabao Cup, Norwich in the FA Cup, and Chelsea in the Premier League.
