Alexandre Lacazette has liked an Instagram post revealing Arsenal's decision to strip Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of his captaincy.
The Gabon international was left out of the Gunners squad over the weekend as they defeated Southampton 3-0 and head coach Mikel Arteta confirmed that the Gabon international was dropped due to a disciplinary issue.
Later the club confirmed Aubameyang had been stripped as club captain.
And Lacazette, who is a good friend of Aubameyang, has 'liked' a post on Instagram claiming that Arteta has done the right thing. The caption read:
"A player who hit the heights for us and a player who did it all by himself in 2020.
"Who’d have thought we’d be here just over a year later?
"If Arteta really feels like he has to do this, then it is probably the correct decision. It simply must be an occasion too far for Arteta to look past this one. Seems likely that this is a repeat offence.
"Time to move on to a new captain, but let’s not forget what he did for us not that long ago."
