Multiple sources report that West Ham considers Southampton's midfielder James Ward-Prowse as a potential replacement for Declan Rice, who is set to leave the club at the end of the season.
The 28-year-old Saints plays as a central midfielder and has had Moyes as a long-term admirer. The Hammers' head coach even made a move for the skipper last summer, but eventually paved a different path with signing Lucas Paqueta and Flynn Downes. Therefore, it is probable that the club will make a move towards the England international after Rice's departure.
Hammers' manager David Moyes said, 'There is a good chance Declan Rice leaves West Ham United this summer.' Some of the top Premier League clubs are eager to land the England international, and Arsenal is currently leading the race.
Although the London Stadium would be in favor of keeping the English star, delaying his departure until the end of his contract, which ends in 2024, might have the club receiving no money upon Rice's departure as a free agent. At the moment, the 24-year-old's value is around £100m.
As for Ward-Prowse, he has spent his entire senior career at Southamton and has scored 54 goals in a total of 407 appearances sine his debut at 2011.
