Ben Chilwell to Chelsea transfer saga are expected to get an update this week, according to Sky Sports. The England left-back appears to be drawing closer to a move to Stamford Bridge after Chelsea boss Frank Lampard registered his initial interest earlier this summer.
Chilwell has not expressed a desire to leave the King Power Stadium while reports claimed the two clubs are close to agreeing on a fee for the player. Lampard is looking to freshen up his squad this summer and has already brought in Timo Werner from RB Leipzig and Hakim Ziyech from Ajax.
Bayer Leverkusen's Kai Havertz is also on his transfer shortlist but Chilwell is a top priority as he looks to upgrade his options at left-back.
"We are told to look out for developments this week," said reporter Kaveh Solhekol. "If a move for Chilwell cannot be agreed then another target, Ajax's Nicolas Tagliafico is available for less than half the price.
"Lampard is not convinced by the left-backs he currently has in his squad and Emerson Palmieri is set to move to Inter Milan after they finish their Europa League campaign."
Chilwell made 33 appearances for City last season. He was dropped on the odd occasion, with Christian Fuchs and James Justin taking his place.
