Virgil van Dijk reacts to prospect of Liverpool not winning a trophy this season

Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk insists his side need to stay discouraged even if they fail to get a trophy this season. The Reds lost 3-0 in their first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona. Jurgen Klopp's side are in the second place of the Premier League, one point behind Manchester City. There is a possibility that the Reds could fail to get a trophy this season. "We're not going to think about that," Van Dijk told DAZN when asked about the prospect of finishing the season without a trophy. "We're having a good season and we will try to win something and, if not, we keep working. We can be proud of ourselves, we're playing against one of the best teams in the world and obviously, in the league, we're playing also against one of the best teams in the world. We're in both races and I think many, many teams would love to be in our position." Next time Liverpool will be in action on Saturday, against Newcastle United. The second leg of the Champions League semi-final will be played on Tuesday, May 5.
