Versatile Tottenham player no longer in Ange Postecoglou's first-team plans

In recent months, speculation has surrounded the potential departure of Tottenham Hotspur defender, Eric Dier.

The England international, who has slipped down the pecking order at the North London club, reportedly no longer figures in Ange Postecoglou's first-team plans, according to a report from Football Insider.

The 29-year-old is said to be discontented with his current situation at the club, having not played a single minute under the new manager.

Although Spurs were open to offloading him during the summer transfer window, no deal materialized. The looming question now is whether Tottenham can find a suitable transfer arrangement for the defender in the upcoming January window.

While Dier has been a valuable contributor to the club over the years, it appears that both parties have reached a point where parting ways might be in their best interests.

Despite this, the player still possesses the versatility to operate in various positions, including central defense, defensive midfield, and full-back.

Spurs' star is currently performing at his highest level and has established himself as a Premier League mainstay. The big question now is whether any English clubs will express interest in acquiring his services in the upcoming months.

With less than a year remaining on his existing contract, Eric will have to depart as a free agent next summer. Therefore, it would be a logical choice for the club to consider selling him for a symbolic fee in January, rather than allowing him to leave without any transfer fee.
