Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang carried a young Arsenal team without several first-team players to an opening weekend 1-0 win at Newcastle United.
Following the game, Arsenal boss Unai Emery has faced the press.
"I want to win. I want to score. I want to do clean sheets. Today we won and did that. The balance offensively and defensively is only taken with the victory. Today in our 90 minutes we could do that being very serious, compact and controlling the game of the ball and creating chances. We need to create chances for our striker. Today with Auba we won," said Emery (via Football.London)
On Callum Chambers, the Spaniard added: "Last year for Chambers was very good. He played all the matches. In pre-season, he deserved to play today. He was very focused on Sokratis also. I want to have very competitive players in each position with David Luiz, with Holding when he’s coming to help us, training regularly with U23s.
Mesut Ozil and Sead Kolasinac missed the game due to safety concers, on the players, Emery said: "The club is managing that situation. We want to be available with them. Will they be ready next week? I don’t know.
Emery has said, that he believes, Aubameyang can score more goals this season.
" Our idea is to continue being one team mostly offensive. Today we are starting well, next week is going to be another challeng for us for a clean sheet but first to win and create a big spirit like a team. To win away we know is difficult each match. We struggled but we deserved it. We’re happy but will calm down," said Emery.
