With the future of David De Gea remaining uncertain, the manager Erik Ten Hag is considering signing a new solid goalkeeper.
According to The Athletic, the Red Devils initially offered the Spaniard a new contract with a reduced salary, but Ten Hag withdrew the offer and returned with an even lower salary.
The Cameroonian star, meanwhile, has been heavily linked as a potential successor to the 32-year-old.
Onana, who previously worked with United's boss at Ajax, wants to reunite with his former manager as per the reports of the Guardian.The shot-stopper's reputation has grown after an impressive season, which included reaching the Champions League final with the Italian outfit and keeping eight clean sheets in 24 Serie A games.
