Tyson Fury’s dad John Fury claims he’s in better shape than Mike Tyson

Tyson Fury’s dad John Fury is eager to fight Mike Tyson and claims he has a significant ‘edge’ over the former world heavyweight champion. He even stats, he is in better shape. Tyson announced last month that he was returning to the ring for exhibition fights in aid of charity. Speaking to BT Sport on What Went Down, John Fury was asked if we would take on Iron Mike and replied without hesitation: "Listen, I’d like to have a go. You know, at the end of the day, I named my son after him, it would be a good thing. "But I know one thing, he’ll be in no better shape than me. Because I tell you what it is, I’ve got the edge in shape because I’ve lived better, I’ve lived cleaner. Tyson, yeah, he was a great, great champion, probably one of the best there’s ever been – and if anyone is going to come close to beating Tyson [Fury] in this era, that’s him. Mike Tyson has got a better chance than Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua at 53 years old. "But listen I’d like to have a go me, because I’m big and strong and game and that’s all you need to be. He’s past his best. And me, the edge I’ve got is I’ve lived right. I don’t drink, don’t smoke, I don’t do things I shouldn’t do and I train every day. "Listen, we’re not body beautifuls. I look as fat as a pig but I can run 10 miles – no problem, today. And I’m training all the time, and I’m fit and strong and game. And I’ve got a good heart! So if he knocks me out he knocks me out, but I’ll try and knock him out, let’s put it that way. I’ll give my all. I’ll do the very best I can. I won’t be afraid to get in the ring, I won’t be beat before I’ve started. I’m going to give it my best shot. "I’m here, I’m 18 stone 7 pounds, I’m 55 years old but I’m in great shape. Don’t drink, don’t smoke, don’t take nothing I shouldn’t do and I eat very, very well. ‘Plus I’ve got him [Tyson Fury] to train me. I’ve got the best son in the world and if I start sparring with him, and big Shane and my Hughie and Tommy, I’ve got a good chance of beating anybody with that kind of backing. With that kind of team, I’d get in with two Mike Tysons!" Source: Metro
