Tottenham are ready to pay Giovani Lo Celso’s release clause to make his loan deal from Real Betis permanent, as claims Spanish club president.
The 23-year-old midfielder joined Spurs in the summer on a season-long loan. He has featured in 11 fixtures for Spurs and started in recent Champions League clash with Bayern Munich.
According to Estadio Deportivo, Tottenham have the option to either make Lo Celso's deal permanently in January for €32m plus bonuses or wait until the summer when they can pay €40m.
It has also been reported that Mourinho’s arrival had ‘slowed’ Lo Celso’s planned permanent move to Tottenham.
However, Real Betis president Angel Haro told Estadio Deportivo that he had no "news regarding the purchase option".
He also thinks Spurs will "exercise it because if they don’t, they will be taxed a lot if they exercise it in June’" and they "may also have to exercise it on a mandatory basis" in the summer.
Haro added that Betis "understand Spurs will exercise the option" but also acknowledges that he would be "delighted" to see Lo Celso return to LaLiga.
Lo Celso has made 11 appearances for Spurs this season so far and has netted once in the match against Red Star in November.
