However, Aston Villa remained resolute in rejecting all approaches, ultimately leading to Luiz signing a new contract a few weeks later.
There was a sense that the Brazilian had an inclination towards making that transfer, and it remains a possibility in the current transfer window, with Arsenal purportedly maintaining their interest. Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta doesn't view a midfielder as an absolute necessity, given the notable acquisition of Declan Rice from West Ham in a record deal.
Aston Villa seem to have initiated the search for a replacement, considering that both teams from north London require a fresh midfielder before the transfer window concludes.
