Three players Erik ten Hag should pick for his starting XI vs Copenhagen

Erik ten Hag is facing a crucial decision regarding the selection of three rotated Manchester United players for the upcoming Champions League clash against Copenhagen on Wednesday.

The Red Devils' boss is expected to stick with a similar lineup that secured a 1-0 victory against Fulham on Saturday, as United are in dire need of three points to avoid a potential Group A exit in the Champions League.

In the recent match against Fulham, the Red Devils managed to secure a late victory with a 91st-minute goal from Bruno Fernandes. Notably, three players who have been in and out of Ten Hag's starting lineup this season stood out.

Let's take a look at three players who should retain their places alongside regular starters like Andre Onana, Bruno Fernandes, and Rasmus Hojlund when they face Copenhagen in Denmark on Wednesday.

1. Aaron Wan-Bissaka

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who made his first start since September in the Fulham match, demonstrated the qualities Ten Hag had missed during his injury absence. The 25-year-old right-back effectively shut down Fulham's attacks down his flank and actively contributed to Manchester United's offensive efforts.

While Diogo Dalot performed well at left-back, Wan-Bissaka should continue as the first-choice right-back, considering his early-season status.

2. Harry Maguire

Harry Maguire's unexpected resurgence alongside Wan-Bissaka continued to impress during the Fulham game. Despite early injury concerns, the 30-year-old center-back delivered an outstanding performance.

Maguire has evolved from being Ten Hag's fifth-choice center-back to becoming a crucial figure in the defense. In the match against Fulham, he made multiple clearances, completed long passes, and dominated duels both in the air and on the ground. His presence benefits the team both defensively and offensively, making it imperative for him to retain his starting position.

3. Alejandro Garnacho

In the event of Marcus Rashford's return to fitness before Wednesday's match, he may assume the left-wing position. However, Alejandro Garnacho displayed great promise in the recent game, showcasing his dribbling ability, drawing fouls, and creating chances.

The 19-year-old winger should be given a starting role, and Ten Hag might consider experimenting with him on the right side, potentially replacing the less effective Antony. This move could improve service to Rasmus Hojlund, who has recently struggled to receive support on the right flank.
