Three managers that could replace Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa

Aston Villa decided to part ways with the club manager Steven Gerrard following the 3 - 0 defeat to Fulham in the Premier League on Thursday.

The 2022/23 campaign didn't start well for Villa as they faced a 2 -  0 loss to the newly-promoted Bournemouth in the domestic league. The club have registered six defeats, three draws, and just three wins so far this season.

The team's latest form led the club board to sack Gerrard, so now they will be looking for a replacement for the former Liverpool star.

Ex-Tottenham and PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino has been heavily linked with the move to Villa Park recently.

While journalist Ben Jacobs mentions the Argentine professional as a possible option for the appointment, there are also other names who could be close to taking the Villa job in the near future.

Let's take a look at the list of three candidates who could replace Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa.

Who could replace Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa?

Sean Dyche

Sean Dyche could be on Aston Villa's radar after his long-term experience in the Premier League. He clearly knows how to train and prepare the squad to compete in England's top tier.

The 51-year-old has been in charge of Burnley for almost ten years, recording 149 wins, 118 draws, and 158 defeats during his managerial spell. Dyche has also been the head coach of Watford back in the 2011/12 campaign.

The Villa board are reported to be the admirers of Thomas Frank, who currently enjoys his season with Brentford.

The 49-year-old is now close to signing a new contract with improved terms amid the latest interest from Astin Villa. The latter could still steal the manager's signature in case of reaching an agreement with both the head coach and his current side.

Scott Parker

Scott Parker is currently out of job after being sacked by Bournemouth at the start of the 2022/23 season. The manager left Vitality Stadium after spending one term with the club and recording 28 wins, 14 draws, and 13 losses at the club.

It was Parker who helped the Cherries to get promoted to the Premier League back in the summer of 2022. However, he couldn't enjoy his time with their boss in the top tournament.
