Three key Chelsea players to miss the clash with Brentford

Chelsea’s interim coach Frank Lampard confirmed that three of their key players, Mason Mount, Reece James and Kai Havertz will miss the Premier League return clash with Brentford.

Today, on April 26 the Blues will welcome their west London rivals at Stamford Bridge for a West London derby.

Amid a very challenging season for Chelsea, when the club needs to try and regain their competency continuously, the squad injuries are a big blow to the matches to come.

Mason Mount has suffered multiple injuries since the beginning of this football season. There is a probability that the 24-year-old midfielder with an ongoing pelvic injury might be off the pitch for the remaining season. The English international’s contract with Chelsea expires this summer, and there are growing speculations on his future at Stamford Bridge.

Reece James appeared to hurt his hamstring during the first half of the match between Chelsea and Real Madrid at Stamford Bridge, after which the Blues got eliminated. Despite the physical discomfort, Reece continued to play and finished the entire 90 minutes of the match. However, the most recent information from Lampard regarding the English international’s condition is not very optimistic.

"Reece James is unavailable, probably for the season. Reece had a hamstring he picked up in the Madrid game, he got through the game but we scanned it the following day," said the Chelsea boss.

As for Kai Havertz, the German international has a “minor knee injury” and will miss the match with Brentford. Yet, in contrast to the two other players, Havertz will be back in training by the end of the week.
