Danny Murphy has shared his thoughts on the possibility of Sadio Mane making a comeback to Liverpool.
Senegal international had a successful stint at Anfield initially but surprised everyone with his departure last summer to join Bayern Munich.
Since his move to Germany, the attacker has faced difficulties in performing at his peak level. Although Mane's future in Bundesliga appears uncertain, the former Liverpool midfielder believes that the Reds are unlikely to re-sign him as the club's focus is currently on strengthening the midfield through new signings.
During a discussion on talkSPORT, Murphy expressed his belief that while the fans would certainly embrace the 31-year-old's return, Jurgen Klopp and his board's primary focus should stand in bolstering other positions.
“I think the fans would take him, but you would have to get rid of someone."
They have five forward, or six even, and that is a huge chunk of their budget on a player and position they don’t need. They need midfielders. So I can’t see it.”
