The Sun, Arsenal star Mesut Ozil is more important player that it was expected as the Gunners’ defence is much stronger with the German.
The 30-year-old was always been thought to be a ‘lazy’ player, however, statistics show that Arsenal fare better with Ozil in in the team compared to the likes of Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Iwobi.
In fact, with Ozil in the XI, the Gunners have conceded just 1.07 goals per 90 minutes this season.
Meanwhile, fellow attacking midfielders Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi are much bigger liabilities, according to the numbers.
When the former Manchester United attacker plays, Arsenal conceded 1.47 goals per 90 minutes - with Iwobi's tally 1.46.
