Manchester United have arrived in Barcelona ahead of Tuesday's night huge Champions League clash at the Nou Camp.
The first leg saw Barcelona take a 1-0 lead thanks to a Luke Shaw own goal.
But United will be boosted by the fact they have multiple players returning to the fold for the second leg.
Ahead of the game, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has faced the press.
Solskjaer does not think that it’s impossible to stage another comeback: “Well, of course, it is that memory of PSG will help the players. Us as a team we know that we can turn things around. Barcelona is a difficult prospect. It is not that long ago and we are one goal better off”
Manchester United need to be dangerous in front of goal.
“O
f course that is the hundred million dollar question in football. We have been practising shooting, for us, it is about confidence and about taking them. We carry a goal threat but it is about taking a deep breath and taking them,” said Solskjaer.
The boss has given an update on Nemanja Matic and Alexis Sanchez: “
Yeah, fitness wise they are available. Of course for Alexis who has been here and played here. It is a big night. When he is on the pitch he wants to prove a point for us as well. Let’s hope he can end the season great for us. We are playing games that United are used to. We are still challenging for a semi-final. let’s hope Alexis when he is on the pitch he can be happy with his performance.”
“
We didn’t stamp out authority on the game at home, we didn’t keep the ball or create chances as we should have. Some freak results, when you have 80% per cent and they don’t win. We know we need to perform better and play ourselves. if you give players like Suarez and Messi time on the ball you will suffer,” added Ole on defensive approach.
Solskjaer has good memories at Nou Camp. He will now return to there after 20 years: “
Many emotions, it’s a fantastic memory for me. The last time I was on the pitch was the only time. I brought my son to watch El Clasico in 2016 and I was here 10 days ago to watch them. I don’t look back on that night too often, I’m just looking forward to seeing if we can play better against Barcelona.”
The game against Barcelona will be one of the biggest challenges for Ole as a manager.
“
Short-term of course tomorrow night. It is my only focus. I can’t spend too long discussion the future. All I am thinking is tomorrow, enough to score and stop them to score. We are now 1-0 down, half-time but if it is a game with many goals in it we stand a bigger chance,” said Solskjaer.
The Norwegian boss believes in fate: “
I believe that you get what you deserve in sport. If you put your life and determination you get exactly what you deserve. Sometimes people have said to me it is one year because of twenty years etc. But to go through we have to perform and have to deserve it.”
“Maybe teams are a bit more open against us. Maybe they feel they have to try to get their goals. Maybe it is a coincidence. we scored against PSG after two minutes, that is a big massive factor. If we get the first goal that is going to be so important then we are level and from then on a draw would suit us. We have got the players. Sometimes it is luck, sometimes it is David at the other end saving.”
“Belief is massive. Everyone’s got talent and a certain ability. We’ve seen against PSG we have the ability to come back against a massive team. Barcelona historically is the best but if we give our all, get that better concentration - we slept for a second, even though they had a lot of the ball - so that concentration is key.”
At the end Solskjaer was asked about Phillippe Coutinho. The journalist asked him does he see the Brazilian in his team next season and Solskjaer simply answered: “H
e’s a Barcelona player.”
