Sir Alex Ferguson wants Mauricio Pochettino to replace Sir Alex Ferguson as Manchester United’s next long-term manager, according to reports.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been appointed as United’s interim manager until the end of the season, while Mike Phelan has also been brought in to assist the Norwegian.
United will be seeking a long-term replacement for Mourinho with Zinedine Zidane and Mauricio Pochettino the main candidates. But according to the Sun, Ferguson has been ‘championing’ Pochettino to United’s hierarchy and wants the Spurs boss to land the role.
However, landing Pochettino won’t be an easy task as the Argentine signed a new contract with Spurs in May which keeps him tied to the club until 2023.
