Liverpool winger Sadio Mane has admitted he is enduring the worst season of his career.
This season has been full of ups and downs for the Reds. The reigning Premier League champions were topping the league in the beginning of the season, however, ongoing injuries appeared to hit them hard this season.
Mane, who is one of the finest stars at the Anfield, didn't experience the best season either, with the Senegalese scoring only 14 times and assisting 7 goals in his 44 outings for the Reds this term.
“This is the worst season of my career. I have to admit it,” Mane told French television channel Canal+.
“If you ask me what is wrong I will struggle to give you an answer. Personally I don’t know. I have always tried to be positive, whether things are going well or badly. I question myself all the time.
“I even underwent a test to take a look at my body. Am I eating the right foods or has everything changed? But they checked the test results, and everything is fine.
“I need to understand that in life there are ups and downs. I will keep on working hard – and perhaps in time this situation will pass.”
Jurgen Klopp’s men are currently six points below fourth-placed Chelsea, but play their game in hand against Manchester United on Thursday, ahead of their final three games of the league campaign.
