Real Madrid legend Roberto Carlos has heaped praise on Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier, labeling him as the "ultimate full-back."
The 33-year-old move to the Magpies in early 2022 for an initial fee of £12 million has proved instrumental in the club's transformation from Premier League strugglers to Champions League contenders.
Since joining the Tynesiders, the Englishman has made 67 appearances, contributing three goals and an impressive 17 assists to his team. Trippier's versatility is evident in his ability to play on both sides of the defense.
He had previously enjoyed a successful spell with Tottenham Hotspur, and his consistent performances led to him becoming a regular for the England national team under manager Gareth Southgate.
Speaking via Express, legendary left-back career, lauds Trippier for his exceptional skills and contributions, cementing his status as one of the finest full-backs in the modern game.
"We can see an evolution in the role of full-backs and I was particularly impressed with Trippier as he was able to play on the left-hand side for the England national team.
“I wouldn't have been able to play on the right of defence but in modern football you need to play on both sides. He has an amazing personality and is very good.”
