Former Manchester United star Rio Ferdinand thinks that Chelsea should be securing a top-four spot and winning a trophy this season if it’s to be viewed as successful. Currently, Frank Lampard's side are 10th in the league table with 9 points and are preparing to face Krasnodar in the Champions League group stage on Wednesday, October 28.
The Blues have welcomed numbers of new players during the summer transfer window, to strengthen the team, including German star Kai Havertz and Timo Werner as well as Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva, Edouard Mendy, and Hakim Ziyech.
"Champions League football, finishing in the Champions League positions and winning a cup," Ferdinand told BT Sport.
"I think that’ll be the demands from Frank himself. Frank’s a winner, he’s accustomed to winning at Chelsea, he knows what the owners are asking but also the fans there.
"And I think he’s got a squad together that are going to be capable of challenging for some silverware once they get in that groove and in that rhythm."
