Wolves' newly appointed coach Julen Lopetegui has claimed that he hopes Adama Traore will remain at the club.
The 26-year-old is out of contract at the end of this season, therefore, the manager expressed his desire of keeping him at the Molineux for longer.
Traore returned to Wolverhampton before the start of the 2022/23 season after spending the second part of the previous campaign on loan at Barcelona.
Although the winger couldn't find himself in Bruno Lage's structure, however, there could be potential for a positive future under Lopetegui.
Speaking via 90min, the Spanish manager admitted that the club would like to convince the player to extend his stay following the deal expiry in the summer.
“We have a big consideration about Adama and we are going to try, of course, to have him continue here,” said Lopetegui, who will take charge of his first Premier League game when Wolves visit Everton on Boxing Day.
“But we will see. I don't know what is going to happen, but I know his commitment with us is big and this is my demand as a coach. After, I don't know what will happen.
“I like Adama and the rest of the players on my team. For me, the best players are always on my team because they will be the main actors for the next few matches.”
The former Sevilla boss is expected to be in charge on December 26 in the Premier League for the first time since taking over the club as a manager. Wolves, standing at the bottom of the relegation zone, will head to Goodison Park to face Everton in a vital relegation six-pointer.
