Reece James has been confirmed as Chelsea new captain, the club announced on Wednesday, August 9, 2023.
Following the departure of Cesar Azpilicueta, the captaincy duty will now be done by James.
Taking to Instagram, he reacted on being named the Blues captain ahead of 2023/24 season.
He wrote: "Captain of Chelsea. A real honour and proud moment for me and my family.
"This club is all I’ve known for the past 17 years. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank everyone that’s helped me on the journey to achieve this.
"The role is new to me but I’ll do everything I can to help lead our club in the right direction. Back to where we belong. Winning titles. See you at the Bridge on Sunday."
