Rafael Nadal explains injury concern from Paris Masters dates back 10 years

Rafael Nadal has admitted he was left with no decision but to pull out of the Paris Masters over fears he would do similar damage to what he has done 10 years ago at US Open. The problem flared up in the morning practice session on Saturday ahead of his semi-final with Denis Shapovalov. After consulting with the doctor, Nadal took the decision to withdraw from the tournament. "I had this issue in the US Open 2009 with a bad experience," he said. "Because I started the tournament with, if I remember, around 6, 7, millimetres of strain and I keep playing, I keep playing. And that was the year that I lost the semifinals against Del Potro. So I finished the tournament with 28-millimetre strain, so have been a big, big thing after that. "I remember well because I couldn’t play semifinals of Davis Cup that was against Israel in that moment. So for me, taken almost a month outside of the tennis court, so we don’t want to repeat that.” Source- Express
