However, Mikel Arteta's team couldn't secure the victory, and the loss left many fans and pundits puzzled, including Bent.

The pundit took to Twitter to voice his perplexity, asking, "What exactly does Kai Havertz bring to the team?".

It was evident that the 24-year-old struggled to make an impact, even as the North Londoners enjoyed over 70% possession.

By the time an hour had passed, they were already 3-0 down, making it a rare below-par performance for an Arsenal side that had only suffered their second loss of the season.

Adding to the mystery was Bent's observation that he hadn't witnessed any noteworthy contributions from Havertz since his high-profile move to the Emirates Stadium from Chelsea, despite the substantial weekly wage of £280,000.

“Fair play to West Ham,” claimed Bent.

“Arsenal not at the races at all tonight.I hate singling out one player but I need someone to explain why 65 million was spent on Kai Havertz and what exactly is he bringing to the team?

“15 games into the season (and) I haven’t seen anything substantial.”
