Pundit Danny Murphy believes there is a possibility that Arsenal left-back Kieran Tierney may want to leave the club this summer.
The 25-year-old has had limited playing time under manager Mikel Arteta, who has implemented a system similar to Pep Guardiola's "inverted full-back" approach. This style does not fully suit Tierney's strengths, such as his pace, energy, and accurate crosses.
Amid the doubtful future at the Emirates Stadium, the report from The Times suggest that Tierney is likely to join Newcastle United as the club could offer the defender a fresh start at St James' Park. The Magpies manager Eddie Howe prefers full-backs who maintain their width on the field rather than drifting inward.
“The lad himself is obviously a good player,” Murphy said about Tierney as he was speaking on talkSPORT.
“He might be pushing, knocking on the door constantly and saying (to Arteta); ‘Look, I know you’ve got Zinchenko and he’s a good player but if you want me to sit here as a number two, it’s not happening’.”
