Press conference: Jurgen Klopp speaks on Davies, Kabak, Matip injury and more

Liverpool are preparing to face Brighton on Wednesday, February 3. Ahead of the game Jurgen Klopp gave a press conference and spoke out on Ben Davies, Ozan Kabak, Joel Matip and more. Amid injury crisis in the defence, the Reds welcomed Davies from Preston and Kabak on loan from Schalke. On Davies: "Very interesting signing, looking forward to meeting Ben finally as it went quickly. In the last few weeks and days we considered our situation of what we have to do. We looked all over in Europe. I saw Ben, I was interested. "Ben knows how it is to play a lot of games and play more than you train. He knows how to defend. I was a 2nd division myself and we all dreamed of the 1st league. So it is a big opportunity for both sides. A player with experience and space to develop. "I am a big believer in opportunities and taking chances and Ben sees it the same way." On Kabak: "He's not here because Wagner was his coach. Whenever he spoke about Ozan it was always positive. Last few days, we didn't speak. Everyone knows it all about Ozan. 20, 4th season in pro football. Schalke has a lot of problems but nothing to do with Ozan. "Ozan is still a talent and has proven a lot. He is here now in a stable team. He can help us and we can help him. Our situation is really strange. We are without our 4 CBs. We needed players." On Matip: "I don't have the right words for it. The things that happened with the boys is incredible and the latest one is a big blow. We lose a player and a person for a while. Surgeries needed and you are not in close contact. It's really harsh and unlucky." On Kabak and Davies making debuts tomorrow, Klopp said that the idea of them starting together tomorrow is "not too cool". On Minamino: "Having options makes it the only chance to let a player leave. We didn't say 'no chance'. We thought about it and Takumi is incredible but we've not given enough chances. "There were not a lot of clubs where it makes sense to let Taki leave but Southampton it does. Only thing he is lacking is a few games in a row. That was difficult here. Takumi is a long-term project here and always was. Makes sense he gets the chance to play games." More on Davies and Kabak: "Both [Davies and Kabak] have experience in adult football. Ozan is young but makes him special as he has that experience. Ben slightly older, different pathway. That's football. We don't need a Hollywood film to see this story. Y'day Preston, today Liverpool." On Thiago: "The situation is far from perfect, injured, ill, but not too important any more. We and he had to learn how to play without changing everything. He was 6 at Bayern but we decided to adapt his position a bit. Worked out well. Stability, we can use his skills." On Van Dijk: "I think we have space for Virgil on the CL list. If we have space for it, then Virgil will be on the list. "No doctor told me there's a chance for Virgil to play again this season. I don't want to say it's impossible but it's not likely. "If there is no space we have to make a decision. If he is on the list it is only because we hope for a miracle, that is it." source - LiverpoolECHO / Join us on Telegram
