Chelsea face Hull City in the fourth round clash in FA Cup.
Ahead of the game, Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has faced the press.
Lampard issued an injury update on Tammy Abraham:
“The good news is he hasn’t fractured anything. That is the good news, but we still don’t know the full extent, it’s not clear at the moment. I think the impetus to bring in a striker or a player to get on the end of chances is there. The recent games have shown that. When you are creating 20 chances a game it is clear. With Olivier it is the same situation. There has been contacting from other clubs. He’s still our player.”
On Transfers, Lampard said:
“There is a choice. It’s not the ideal window, history has proven that. It is about getting the choice right. The club knows my thoughts on it.”
Lampard also spoke about Boubakary Soumaré interest.
“I am aware of him, but not on my radar for this window,” he said.
Top four, could be clearer?
I am not happy, it’s more of the fact we could be in better daylight in fourth. In the last two games alone we have created chances. Newcastle two shots and a goal, Arsenal two shots two goals. We need to get that right.
Kepa
He will have to deal with that. That’s what being a footballer is about. There is a spotlight on them. The important thing for that is not to get embroiled in what people are saying, not just Kepa but any player.
I am not looking at strengthening that position now. Kepa knows and is honest that there have been some mistakes.
Congestion in fixtures and injuries
It’s a hard one. It’s not a science. It can happen at any time. There feels like there has been a lot of congestion. Maybe it should be looked at.
How have you found the window?
It’s tough because you want to bring in players. There was demand to bring in players in January at Derby as well. You are striving to bring in the best.
Winning the FA Cup
I just want to win it. I do, the players do.
Kante position
I haven’t always played him in the same role as Sarri. We have played with two midfielders in plenty of times. He wasn’t a holder under Kante. I have used him as I see fit.
Caballero to start?
Willy will start tomorrow. I have seen nothing but good things from him.
Willian and Pedro contract updates?
No, no updates.
