Newcastle United, among various Premier League teams, are exploring the possibility of signing one or more players before the January transfer window closes at 11 pm (UK time) on Thursday.
The team, facing challenges both in European competitions and domestically, is particularly in need of reinforcement due to injuries to key players, including Brazilian midfielder Joelinton.
Since being repositioned by manager Eddie Howe, Joelinton has been performing exceptionally well. Alongside fellow Brazilian Bruno Guimaraes, who has also adapted successfully to life at Newcastle, the club is reportedly eyeing another Brazilian midfielder.
As per Tutto Atalanta, the Magpies have shown interest in Atalanta's Ederson. However, they face competition from Premier League rivals Liverpool and Manchester United, as well as French giants Paris Saint-Germain.
Although no concrete offers have been reported as of now, the potential for a deal remains open in the final hours of the transfer window. The outcome may hinge on the asking price set by Atalanta for Ederson's services. If the fee is deemed too high, a move in the summer could be a more likely scenario.
