Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly planning to engage in contract discussions with head coach Roberto de Zerbi, as per TEAMtalk.
De Zerbi joined Brighton on a four-year contract in September last year, taking over from Graham Potter, who had moved to Premier League rivals Chelsea. At 44 years old, the Italian's mandate was to build on Potter's successful work and elevate Brighton's position into the top eight.
De Zerbi has made significant improvements on the south coast, enhancing Brighton's link-up play and efficiency in front of the goal. In the previous season, the Seagulls completed an impressive sixth-place finish, securing their first-ever qualification for European competition.
This season, Brighton has won five out of their seven league matches, placing them in sixth position. They are also set to face French giants Marseille in the Europa League, following their inaugural European fixture, which saw them lose 3-2 to AEK Athens.
De Zerbi's exceptional coaching has garnered attention from major clubs like Real Madrid and Napoli. However, sources suggest that Brighton is confident about his desire to continue at the Amex.
While the manager's current contract extends until June 2026, Brighton's management is prepared to offer him an extended and improved deal. The new contract will also include a higher release clause, currently set at £10 million.
