Manchester United icon Paul Scholes offered high praise to Rasmus Hojlund after his impressive double against Galatasaray in the Champions League, likening the young Dane's performance to that of Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Hojlund showcased his talent with two exceptional goals, one of which was disallowed for offside, in a game where United struggled once again during their challenging season. The Red Devils' attacker stood out as a shining star amidst United's struggles, as they surrendered their lead twice to the Turkish side.
Casemiro's late red card added to the team's difficulties. The 20-year-old opened the scoring with a close-range header in the first half and secured his second goal by breaking through the Turkish defense and delicately chipping the ball past the goalkeeper.
Despite the defeat, Hojlund had no reason to apologize to the Stretford End supporters, given his outstanding performance on the pitch.
"You’re normally really disappointed, [to lose your first Champions League home match at home]" said Scholes, via Metro UK.
"[But] I think I saw enough tonight in a team that excited me. Hojlund, especially them two goals. He took the two goals brilliantly. I absolutely loved the second goal, he gave the centre-half no chance, clean pair of heels and his finish – a composed finish. We also had a goal that got disallowed.
"And I thought, ‘Wow there’s a bit of Van Nistelrooy in there."
