Paul Merson states his prediction for Newcastle United vs Southampton

Paul Merson has given his prediction for the upcoming clash between Newcastle United and Southampton. 

The Magpies are currently in a tense run for the Premier League top-four finish along with the rival teams Manchester United, Tottenham and Aston Villa. 

The Saints, meanwhile, will be hoping to have a successful clash in order to keep their place in the first division. 

The two teams are set to face each other in the domestic top tier on Sunday, April 30, 2023. Ahead of the clash, Merson has shared his thoughts, backing Eddie Howe's side to be the winners with a score of 3 - 0. 

"Newcastle United haven't gone around and thrown money even though they've got rich owners. They brought in an excellent manager and made some excellent signings. Fair play to them, they've done a great job by being judicious with their resources," the pundit said on Sportskeeda. 

"The Champions League will be a better place with them and their fans. As long as they have their eye on the ball, they will blow Southampton away," he added.
